Axe Throwing in Oshkosh: Get in on the Axe-tion

I don’t know if you know this yet, but there has been a huge craze about throwing axes! I see so many of my friends going and their families too. I was hesitant about it, but I finally tried it and I got to say, it was actually a blast! There were tons of people of all different ages and it was a great stress reliever. We went to Blades and Boards for axe throwing in Oshkosh.

Axe Throwing is actually a sport that is recognized globally. During a competition, competitors throw axes at a target and try to hit the bullseye. There aren’t many professional leagues out there, but there are tons of recreational leagues and competitions.

Things to Know Before You Try Axe Throwing in Oshkosh

  • There is more than one size axe to throw. This makes it easily accessible for kids and older persons to also participate.
    • Participants under the age of 18, must have a parent/guardian with them at all times
  • It is safe! There are experts in house to help you throw correctly. And there are barriers between lanes so no one will get hurt.
  • Hours
    • Mon CLOSED
    • Tues – Fri 4PM – 10PM
    • Sat 12PM – 10PM
    • Sun 12PM – 6PM

How it works

I would 100% recommend making a reservation before you go. They tend to fill up quickly and this way you know for sure that you have a lane when you arrive. You can make reservations online. You’ll have to fill out a waiver before you can begin for liability reasons. To save yourself some time, I would recommend doing that online right after you reserve your time spot.

Once you arrive, you’ll need to check in at the desk. And after an axe throwing expert will come get you and take you to your lane. They’ll walk you through everything! They show you how to throw the axe and then they stay by you and watch you throw for a bit. The experts make sure that you’re throwing correctly and safely before leaving you. Don’t worry about not being good at it because it honestly took me FOREVER to get the hang of it haha.

Then you just have fun! Your expert will talk you through scoring and show you different games you can play while throwing. There’s a dry erase board at each lane to help you keep score. Each lane has their own tables and chairs too for you to keep your drinks and personal belongings at.
