Congratulations on your upcoming high school graduation! As you start to explore ideas for life after high school, it’s important to take into consideration all your options including college. Whether you’re undecided on a major or career or know exactly what you’d like to earn a degree in, it’s a good idea to educate yourself about the possibilities. Green Bay has many remarkable colleges that can offer you an excellent education to help you jump start your career. To help you on your search, I’ve created a list of the top colleges in Green Bay!
UW-Green Bay is a public university located on the northeast side of town. The campus is absolutely beautiful and sits on 700 acres overlooking the bay. And surrounding the campus is an arboretum of 290 acres that creates a natural boundary. If you want campus life that isn’t city focused, then this is the college for you! They have over 200 majors and programs, but are known for their business administration, psychology, computer science, accounting and human biology programs. Also, classroom sizes are pretty small, giving you an incredible advantage! You’ll easily make new friends as UW-GB has over 100 different student organizations and campus life is wonderful! Bonus, they have a tunnel system made up of heated hallways for easy commuting between buildings in the winter! Goodbye snowstorm haha.
St. Norbert College was founded in 1898 and is a private liberal arts college. The 116 acre campus is absolutely stunning and sits nestled on the Fox River. Campus life has that small town charm that will have you feeling at home in no time. Many of their previous students rave about the great food options on campus which is a huge bonus! They have over 90 clubs and organizations and there’s always something happening on campus. St. Norberts College offers over 80 different degree programs and is most known for business, education, social sciences, biology and communication. Classroom sizes are small with over 55% of them having less than 20 students. If you’re looking for a private college with smaller classes and a friendly campus, then this is the college in Green Bay for you!
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College opened in 1912 and has over 200 different programs. Many students choose to goto NWTC to help prepare for a future bachelor’s degree or they obtain their associates degree. Programs this 2 year college is known for are nursing, business administration, general education and criminal justice. NWTC offers a student apartment community that is super close to campus and you’ll still get that on-campus community experience. This college in Green Bay offers over 30 different clubs as well to help you get more involved with other students and campus. I love that this option can give you a head start on your college degree, while helping you save money and giving you a bit of the 4 year college experience. I highly recommend at least taking their virtual tour online or exploring the programs available on their website.
This is an excellent college for those wanting to pursue a career in the medical field! They offer programs in nursing, radiologic sciences, surgical assisting, sonography and physical therapy. Bellin College opened in 1909 and is a private college. Class sizes are small and focused on helping prepare you for the always changing healthcare industry. They also provide a lot of hands-on experience and state-of-the-art technology. Bellin has 10 different organizations for their students including Bellin Student Nurses Association, Student Senate, Bellin College InterVarsity and more! For more about Bellin College and their offerings, check out their website.
Rasmussen University was founded in the 1900’s as a private college and the Green Bay location opened its doors in 2007. This university doesn’t offer housing, but the campus is located near Interstate 41 which makes it super easy to commute to. They have over 50 different programs you can enroll in and are most known for their nursing and medical assisting programs. Many of their other programs have courses online and some of them are even fully online. Rasmussen University in Green Bay has a variety of resources available to its students including a library, student advisors, tutors, career services and a learning resource center. If you’re wanting to pursue a career in nursing and love the idea of having many courses online, then this is the college in Green Bay for you.
I know that deciding on the next chapter of your life is overwhelming and challenging, but I hope that this list at least helped narrow down your options for colleges in Green Bay. One thing I recommend doing is at least explore the campus itself and the city surrounding the campus because this is where you’ll be living. Even if you’re going to one of the colleges that doesn’t have on-campus housing, explore the neighborhoods and where you potentially might be living. Also, talk to an academic advisor and ask them questions about the degree you want to pursue or how to navigate classes if you’re undecided. It might give you some insight about the school to help you decide on which college is best for you.
