Can you please provide a short description of your business?
Holiday Florist in Winneconne is a full service florist offering custom designed flowers, plants, home décor and gifts. We have a large delivery area to assist our customers in getting their orders where they want them.
Can you share a bit about what inspired Holiday Florist? Why did you decide to open a flower shop in Winneconne?
Laurie & I were designers for the previous owner and founder of Holiday Florist. As Therese Ann decided to retire Laurie & I decided to form a partnership and take the business over.
Do you offer flower arrangements like bouquets or corsages for events like homecoming, prom and senior photo sessions? Are students able to customize them?
We offer made to order bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres for events. We custom design with a variety of flowers, ribbons and accents.
Which is your favorite to make: bouquet, corsage or boutonniere? And why?
Okay, this is a hard one. Maybe a bouquet is a favorite though we enjoy designing all the wear and carry flowers.
How do you help students choose flowers that match their outfits? Can students bring outfit photos for ideas?
We assist the students with colors and designs of their flowers. Many students show us pictures, some have just a color in mind. We often show them a variety of flowers and ribbon colors in the process of taking their orders.
How far in advance should students place their orders for prom, homecoming or senior photo session flowers?
For best selection the beginning of the week of the event is great. But we often design the last minute flower order, though the selection might not be as large for those last minute orders.
What tips do you have for keeping corsages and boutonnieres fresh throughout the night?
We spray all flowers with a solution to hold the moisture in the flowers then we also advise whoever picks up the flowers to keep them in the refrigerator until needed. We place all wearable flowers in either a corsage box or a boutonniere bag for freshness and advise to place bouquets in a vase of water and in a cool place until ready to use.
Do you offer any extras, like ribbons, charms, or keepsakes, to make bouquet arrangements more special?
We have a wide variety of ribbons, jewels and gems. We do have customers who bring in their own special extras that we gladly add to their flowers.
What is your favorite flower?
Oh, another hard one! There are very few we don’t like. For me personally I would say the daisy is my favorite.
