As your Preble High School student prepares for their senior year, you’ve probably started wondering about senior photos and their yearbook photo. It’s an important detail for all families to manage and there’s usually a strict deadline for submitting your senior portrait. As a senior photographer, I totally understand it can be hard to keep up with all the things, so I’ve created a guide to help you prepare for submitting to the yearbook.
While I don’t recommend planning your entire senior portrait session around your yearbook photo, I do recommend at least looking over the guidelines beforehand. This way you can ensure that you have the correct outfit, posing, image, session date etc. Preble High School in Green Bay Wi typically asks for senior photos to be submitted by December for the yearbook. So I would be sure to schedule your session no later than October to allow enough time for your photographer to edit your images. The yearbook staff also asks that your image be a head and shoulders photo. So be sure that you do a few poses that don’t include hands by or near your face. If the image submitted isn’t cropped corrected, the yearbook staff may crop it for you.

Preble High School doesn’t have anything stated on their website about outfits for yearbook photos. However, I would recommend following their school dress code to ensure that your image is appropriate for the yearbook. As a senior photographer, I recommend one of your outfits being a neutral color, as neutrals are timeless. This way the image you submit to the yearbook will carry well over time. I would also suggest wearing a solid color over a pattern because sometimes patterns can do some funky things in camera. My last tip is to overdress a bit. It’s always best to go for dressy vibes rather than casual. This way your overall look is elevated.
I know that this decision can feel overwhelming as there are many photographers in the area. So to keep things simple, this is how I recommend you find your senior photographer. First decide on the style and vibe you want for your images and then research photographers who have images similar in their portfolios. Next, learn more about the photographers whose work you like most and learn about them. Do you genuinely like them and their vibe? You’re going to be working closely with them, so it’s important that you like and trust them. I would also suggest looking at what their offer and make sure it aligns with what you’re hoping for from your senior photography session. Once you have your list narrowed down, reach out to them and ask for more details. From there, choose a photographer who you feel most aligned with and can trust. And if you’re concerned about your yearbook photo, be sure to ask them direct questions about it.

I get this decision doesn’t come lightly, as it’s the one image to represent your senior. When looking through your gallery which image does your senior gravitate towards naturally? Which image do they feel the most confident in? That’s the image I would choose for the yearbook. Don’t overthink this part. If you’re struggling because the image isn’t cropped directly to match the Preble High School yearbook guidelines, then ask your photographer to help. I actually offer yearbook photo submission with each of my packages. I will crop, resize and submit the photo on your behalf so you don’t even have to worry about it.
Another fun option I wanted to mention is that Preble High School offers Senior Advertisements in their yearbook. A senior advertisement is basically a feature inside the yearbook of your student. Most parents use the opportunity to help celebrate their senior’s achievements and accomplishments. There are a couple general options for sizes, but the yearbook staff also welcomes customization requests as well. If you’re interested, reach out to Preble High School yearbook staff.

I hope that this guide helps you prepare for submitting your Preble High School senior photo to the yearbook! I know that there’s a lot to manage during senior year, but your senior session should be fun and not stressful! Don’t forget to double check the deadline for submitting your portrait and if you have questions to reach out to the yearbook staff.
