Green Bay is such a fun city and is full of family friendly things to do! As a Green Bay Family Photographer, I’m often asked for local recommendations. I love exploring and trying new things with my family. We often spend our weekends wandering around local cities and discovering new places and businesses. Below you’ll find a list of some of the best things to do in Green Bay with your family.
For those of you who love thrills and rides, this is the perfect way to entertain your family all day, no matter how old your kiddos are. Bay Beach is filled with amusement rides that are suitable for kids of all ages. Your family can go on classics like the ferris wheel, tilt-a-whirl and even ride the historic Zippin’ Pippin’ Roller Coaster. Tickets for the rides are inexpensive and so your family is sure to be entertained for hours! Don’t forget to pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic by the water. If you have a larger group, you are able to rent a pavilion or shelter. There are concession stands for your family to enjoy snacks and cold drinks throughout the day. For updated hours and other information check their Facebook.
Nature lovers, you need to take your family here! There are over 600 acres to explore featuring animal exhibits, educational areas, hiking trails and tons of wildlife! Your family will have a blast as you wander throughout the park and see all the different animals. Plus it’s a great way to sneak some exercise in for the family too haha. I would definitely recommend feeding the waterfowl, it’s always so fun to watch the kids play with the birds and feed them. I love that there are many different learning opportunities throughout the park for kids to enjoy, it makes education fun!
Sport fanatics, this will be a major score for your fam! Lambeau Field is one of my family’s favorite things to do in Green Bay! Even in the off season there’s so much to do there. To make the most of your visit I recommend checking out the Hall of Fame exhibit, the Packers Pro shop and definitely sign up for a stadium tour! The tours allow you to go through the players tunnel and stand on the sidelines, which is a super cool experience! Don’t forget to take a photo of your family doing the Lambeau Leap before you leave! Your family is sure to have a wild time at the New Zoo! There are tons of animals from all over the world for your family to see. I love that this zoo isn’t super big because my family doesn’t get bored or tired before we make it all the way through. But it’s also large enough that we’re entertained for a couple of hours. It’s the perfect size. Take a walk through the petting zoo area, that’s always a hit for the kids! And make sure to feed the giraffes too! It’s a super unique experience and is great stop for photos.
This is a super unique place for your family to explore together! It’s also another place that combines fun and learning! Heritage Hill focuses on sharing Northeast Wisconsin’s culture and history. But this isn’t just an ordinary history lesson, it’s a live experience! Each exhibit has live performers wearing clothing from the era of the exhibit. The park focuses on agriculture, Fort Howard, the fur trade and many different buildings that were part of Green Bay’s history. It’s a fun experience to watch your kids see and experience Wisconsin’s history.
Your children are going to have an absolute blast at the Children’s Museum in Green Bay. There are countless exhibits for your kids to explore! Each exhibit is carefully created and planned to teach your kids different skills, learn about local history, understand safety rules, and so much more! It’s honestly a great way to introduce a lot of general knowledge to them in a fun way. Make sure to check out the variety of programs available for your kiddos too. There are some that focus on creativity, reading, movement and more.
If your family is wanting to cool down this summer, make sure you go for a swim at the Resch Aquatic Center. Some of their amenities include a wading area, diving board, water slides and sand area for small children. This waterpark also has a splash pad for your younger ones, making this a great place to take the whole family. This is definitely a must try this summer!
All aboard for some family fun at the National Railroad Museum! Your family can explore the rich history of the railroad together. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits for your family to explore, including a train you can enter and walk through. And if you visit during the warmer months of the year, you can even take a train ride! If your family loves the history of the railway make sure to check out their summer camps for your kids!
The Resch Center will keep your family entertained year round! Seriously, there’s always something fun going on. Your family can enjoy everything from hockey games to football games to Disney on Ice, to concerts, to trade shows. This is one of my family’s favorite things to do in Green Bay because there’s so many different events that happen at the Resch Center. We love going to all the different events throughout the year. Be sure to check their site for upcoming events.
If your family is looking for a great place to swim with a sandy beach, you’re in the right place! Ashwaubomay Lake is open seasonally has plenty of things for your family to do. They have diving boards, a tube slide, rafts, basketball hopes, playground equipment, volleyball courts and more! It’s an awesome swimming hole located close to the city that will give you the country lake vibes. There’s also many family friendly events your family is sure to love including food truck rallies and concerts!
This resort has the waterpark your family has been dreaming about! Your family is sure to enjoy the lazy river, water slides and aquatic playground. Even if your family isn’t staying at the resort, you can purchase water passes for the day. They just recommend that you call ahead to make sure there is room for your family. Not only does the Tundra Lodge have an amazing waterpark, but they also have a great arcade! In the warmer months there’s also an outdoor splash pad your littles will love! And don’t forget to visit the candy store!
Joannes Family Aquatic Center is another great place to take your family swimming! There is a zero depth wading area, sand play area for younger kids, sand volleyball courts, diving boards and water slides. This waterpark also has an area with a shallow pool, mini slide and fountains for your little ones to play in. Right outside of the waterpark is a large playground your kids will absolutely love! It’s a great spot for your kids to burn off all of their energy haha.
