Q&A with Jennie of Spot Clothing in Door County
Can you please provide a short description of your business?
Spot is a fun filled women’s clothing and accessories shop that focuses on fun. Everything from the environment, the staff, the music and the merchandise. Life is too short to wear boring clothes.
Can you share a bit about what inspired Spot? Why did you decide to open a boutique in Door County?
Spot was born out a super quick daydream – the realization that I didn’t really shop for myself in Door County. Feeling there was a void to fill for fun and affordable clothing. It went from a daydream to a signed lease in less than six hours, and it’s been rolling at that pace ever since.
How would you describe the style of the clothing you carry at Spot?
I believe comfort is more important than anything when getting dressed – if you are comfortable, you can take on the world! We are in a resort area and I try to cover all the different styles and personalities when I buy for Spot. I also own Space (located underneath our Sister Bay location) the ’Not-So-Serious Home & Gift Shop’, as well as Sip and Spot Home (located in North Ephraim), so between all the shops, we have about 450 brands in house right now. Everyone is sure to find their next favorite.
What kind of experience do you aim to create for your customers when they visit your boutique?
Shopping is a treat and should feel like a lovely break from all that ‘real life’ throws at us. Everything from the colors, the music, to the friendly staff, should make you feel like you’re beyond welcome. Everyone works super hard for their money, and the fact that you’re even consider spending it with us makes you royalty in our eyes. Thank you.
What is your favorite item you offer your customers?
I love the diversity we have a Spot, clothes should be fun and make you feel like you can do anything – one day you might want a sweet little sundress, and the next you want to kick butt in the most comfortable jeans and your favorite hoodie. We strive to fill all the many versions of you and your moods.
What is one outfit staple all women should have in their wardrobe and why?
For sure great pair of jeans, and comfortable shoes. Both are a great base to pair with any kind of top and you are ready to go. We carry Judy Blue jeans and our entire staff is OBSESSED – they are so amazing. I also think every woman deserves to own a dress that makes you feel beautiful, something that brings out your personality and makes you feel like the powerful woman that you are!
