One of the most important things a child can learn is how to swim. Not only can swimming lessons help them to feel confident in the water, but it could potentially save their life someday. As moms, I know we always try to protect our kids from harm and so it’s important to get our kids involved with swimming lessons at an early age to prevent accidents. The Oshkosh YMCA swim lessons are fantastic and highly recommended in the area! Below I’ve created a post that shares everything you need to know about swim classes at the YMCA.
The YMCA’s swimming program is focused on creating a fun environment for kids while learning the fundamentals of swimming. Their program is also structured with different levels, which allows kids to progress at their own pace. It’s also a great opportunity for your children to make friends while learning how to be safe in and around the water. The instructors are extremely skilled and will ensure that your kids understand water safety skills.
Oshkosh YMCA swim lessons are offered in both a group setting and a private setting. Group lessons are for parent/child, preschool and youth classes and have a more traditional approach to swim classes. Your kids can start group lessons as young as 6 months old. Private classes are for those who need more individualized attention and are 3 years of age and older. No matter what type of class you prefer, there’s a class for any skill level. There are classes offered at both locations in Oshkosh, 20th Ave and Downtown.
If you’re not sure which class is right for you, then I suggest checking out their group swim lessons page where you can find more details about what each class has to offer.
If you’re considering having your child join a swim class, then registration is simple! You can register online by going to their website and selecting the class you’d like from the swim schedule. You’ll have to log into the YMCA program’s software to sign up and if you don’t already have an account you’ll need to create one. You can also sign up for swim lessons at the front desk at either of the Oshkosh locations. Also just a side note, you don’t have to be an Oshkosh YMCA member to register for a swim lesson.
It’s important to be prepared for your upcoming Oshkosh YMCA swim lesson! You’ll need to bring a swimsuit, towel and a pair of sandals. If you plan on using a locker, I would also recommend bringing a lock if you plan on leaving your belongings in there during your lesson. Depending on the age of your children, you may also want to consider bringing goggles along. Be sure to check ahead and see if they’re required for your lesson or not. After your class you may also need shower supplies (especially after being in the chlorine) and a snack and water.
If you’re searching for swim classes in Oshkosh, then you should consider the YMCA. They’re long standing reputation is unbeatable and they’re classes are unmatched. You’ll find a class for your kids no matter their age and skill level. If you still have questions be sure to check the Oshkosh YMCA Swim Lessons page.
